Bridge Energy, the Oslo Axess-listed oil and gas exploration and production company is pleased to announce that on Tuesday 2nd November Bridge Energy completed the decommissioning of the Tristan NW field facilities with the demobilisation of the Ensco 92 rig. The Tristan NW field is located within UKCS licence P.105 in the UK Southern North Sea block 49/29b.

The work programme approved by the Department of Energy and Climate Change on 27th August 2010 involved: the plugging and abandonment of the Tristan NW well; the removal of the Tristan NW subsea wellhead and removal of sections of the 6" production pipeline and 4” controls umbilical. The original Tristan NW discovery well, which was drilled in 1987, was also plugged and abandoned.

Bridge Energy employed Construction Specialist Limited (CSL) to project manage the decommissioning programme. The execution team consisted of BMT Cordah Limited, Fraser Offshore Limited, Ensco Offshore UK Limited and Bibby Offshore Limited. The Bibby Topaz DSV was used to remove the sections of pipe, umbilical and the subsea manifold and the Ensco 92 jack up drilling rig was used to plug and abandon both wells. Fraser Offshore Limited managed the rig operations on behalf of Bridge Energy.

The final cost for the decommissioning of Tristan NW is estimated to be £11.7 million. Bridge Energy’s net cost is expected to be £3.7 million.

Einar Bandlien, Bridge's Chief Executive Officer, said, "The successful decommissioning of the Tristan NW field facilities is an important milestone for Bridge Energy and the project further demonstrates Bridge’s capability to execute complex projects with the support of our delivery partners in the service community.
