Spain's Repsol says executives are meeting in Libya with officials about the resumption of the firm's oil production and export operations. Company spokesman Kristian Rix says the meetings with Libya's National Oil Corporation are taking place in the eastern city of Benghazi, where the uprising against Muammar Gaddafi began six months ago.
He said that the talks are aimed at mapping out "a return to normality of the Libyan oil industry." Repsol YPF SA has started evaluating the condition of its Libyan assets following the civil war to determine when production will resume. An initial restart of production could happen about four weeks after workers arrive in Libya, but reaching full production is expected to take longer.
