Deputy of Engineering and Construction at Iranian Oil Terminals Company announced a thirty-percent progress in construction of the shipyard basin at the North Oil Terminal and added that the development of the project is on schedule.
Securing support demands of drilling fleet, and transferring crude oil input from current basin to the extended basin (200 thousand bpd which can be expanded to 500 thousand bpd) was considered as the short term goals of the project.
He further explained that the oil transferring capacity will be raised to 2.5 million bpd after completion of the construction.
Dredging the extended basin and its gate to depth of 9 meters according to the maps, also dredging the construction bed of the wave breakers of both west and east wings to 12 meters of the surface plate, and moving the dredging wastes to the depth of 20 meters of the sea (8 meters away from the coast) were counted as the building processes of the extended basin.
Currently the draft is 4.5 meters which will be maximized to 15 meters in this expansion which will facilitate the terminals to load vessels of 63 thousand barrels and more.
