Speaking to Shana, Jam Petrochemical Complex’s managing director, Mostafa Mortazavi said despite sanctions, construction of one of the world’s largest and most advanced units of production butane-1 had been completed and is ready for start-up.
Mortazavi noted that unit’s annual production capacity, which has been built by local manufacturers with 117.5 million dollars investment, stands at 115 thousand tons.
The unit, which has been built in Assaluyeh (onshore installations of the South Pars gas field), will meet the country’s need to butane-1 as the main feedstock being used in light polyethylene units.
‘The unit not only will meet domestic needs but part of its output will be exported to other countries turning Iran into one of exporters of the product’, Mortazavi noted, adding negotiations for export of the product had led to good results.
This petrochemical unit has been built on schedule in a 28-month period; the executive said, adding 2.2 million hours has been spent for construction of the unit without any incident.
He estimated the annual value of the unit’s product at 180 million dollars adding Jam Petrochemical Complex as the biggest olefin unit in the world is comprised of a linear low density polyethylene unit, a linear high density propylene unit and a propylene unit each with annual production capacity of 300 thousand tons and an Ethylene glycol unit with production capacity of 443 thousand tons per year.
Ethylene, propylene, linear heavy and light polyethylene, polypropylene, ethylene glycols, alpha glycols, gasoline, raw pyrolysis gasoline, fuel oil and butadiene are the main products of the Jam Petrochemical Complex.
