Qatargas Operating Company Limited and Thailand’s PTT Public Company Limited have signed a long term one-million tones per annum of liquefied natural gas (LNG) Heads of Agreement. Under the heads of agreement, LNG will be supplied into PTT LNG Receiving Terminal when it becomes operational. The terminal is expected to be operational in 2011 and will be capable of receiving the cargoes using the new QFlex and Q-Max class of vessels. The initial capacity of PTTLNG receiving terminal is five million tonnes per annum with expansion capability up to ten million tonnes per annum in later years. The received LNG is expected to be supplied by PTT mainly to the power and transportation sectors as well as the industrial users. PTT has also imported natural gas from its neighboring country for the same purpose.
