Construction work of a seventh Iran’s gas trunk line (IGAT-7) offshoot as the final part of a planned gas export pipeline to Pakistan has progressed by 20 percent.

Managing director of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company (IGEDC), Alireza Gharibi made the remarks in an interview with Shana, adding the 320 kilometers offshoot extends from Iranshahr City south east of Iran toward the border with Pakistan.

He noted that necessary materials had already been ordered for completing the project.

Having said that construction is underway from both sides and includes laying pipeline from Iranshahr City toward Pakistan border and vise versa, the official noted that one third of total needed pipes is ready for continuation of construction.

Gharibi said that Pakistani side should lay 700 kilometers of pipeline for distribution of gas at home adding Pakistan is willing Iranian contactors to take responsibility for laying 200 to 250 kilometers of the pipeline inside the country.

‘Launching Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline not only will deepen friendly relations between the two countries but will reinforce security in the area’, IGEDC’s top executive said.

The 920 kilometers length seventh Iran’s gas trunk line was designed to meet gas needs of south east province of Sistan on Balochestan on the one hand and to meet Pakistan's gas needs on the other hand.
