The Serbian Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS), in which Gazprom Neft owns a 56.5 percent stake, has signed an agreement with Energowind for the construction of a wind power plant to be called Plandiste. NIS gets 50 percent in the project. The total cost of the wind power plant, including development of the basic design and the obtaining of required permits, amounts to approximately 160 million euros. The wind power plant will be the first power generation unit built in Serbia over the last 25 years.

Construction is slated to kick off in summer 2013. At present, final consultations are being held for the selection of equipment suppliers, building and installation/startup contractors.

It is planned to install 34 wind turbines with a total capacity of 102 megawatts on the territory of Plandiste municipality. The Plandiste wind power plant will be the first wind farm in Serbia, and it is expected to generate 212 gigawatt-hours of electric power per year. Under the Serbian law, the electric power generated by the wind farm will be purchased by the state company Elektroprivreda Srbije.
