Tenaris and Maersk Oil have been building a business relationship in the North Sea for several years. Over time, they worked together in many operations that posed numerous challenges, including complex offshore conditions, such as HP/HT, in some of the most stringent environmentally regulated regions.

For their operations in the North Sea, Maersk Oil experienced several challenges. The high costs associated with its rig spread rates made it necessary for the company to find better ways to achieve savings. In addition, simplifying onshore preparation operations and logistics as well as increasing safety are vital in North Sea operations. The company also placed the utmost importance in applying technologies that minimize or eliminate the release of pollutants to the environment.br>
Since they conducted an initial trial in 2009, Maersk Oil has experienced the benefits of Dopeless® technology, a dry, multifunctional coating applied in a fully automatic process at Tenaris mills. It eliminates the need for thread compounds, making the rig site safer and cleaner, and significantly decreases the release of pollutants to the environment.br>
Over the years, Maersk Oil gradually began to take advantage of Tenaris’s unique service offering. In 2015, they requested to use Rig Direct™, a service model that integrates the supply of pipes and accessories from the mill to the rig, leveraging a single QHSE management system. This service model focuses on process and operational efficiency with the objective of lowering costs.
