ABB is leading the way in the development of critical energy management solutions with the launch of the CMS-700, a new multi-channel energy monitoring system that will improve efficiency, productivity and safety.
From 28-30 November 2017, on stand 420, Hall 4 at SPS Drives 2017 in Nuremburg, ABB will showcase its latest solution for all areas of energy management, which incorporates a compact, user friendly design with high measuring accuracy, a wide measuring range and a built in Web server which offers easy access to data and system parameters.
Circuit Monitoring Systems (CMS) are multi-channel measuring systems for monitoring the final circuit of electrical installations. The systems consist of a processing unit (Control Unit) and sensors with different measuring ranges and mounting variants.
In a very simple way, the compact measuring technology can be mounted inside switching and distribution cabinets, making them ideal retrofit solutions for existing installation. More compact than similar systems, the CMS-700 measures the power flow as close to the load as possible, directly on the protection devices inside the distribution boards.
The new CMS-700 can also analyze current flow and performance data in up to 96 circuits and with its integrated Web server, the CMS can display all this data online, with further processing possible using LAN TCP/IP or Modbus RTU interfaces. This gives users the ability to identify and neutralize individual circuits, irregular power surges, congested lines and associated risks at an early stage before major damage occurs.
Franziska Steinert, product manager at ABB comments: “The new CMS-700 is ideal for any situation where power outages are causing massive financial losses or posing a risk to human health, such as in industrial settings, critical power applications, hospitals, data centers or electrical distribution facilities.”
In addition, significant cost savings can be achieved by identifying and replacing power-intensive equipment and with the ability to install the open-core sensor technology quickly and easily without power interruption, even in retrofit installations.
Steinert continues: “The CMS-700 is an intelligent device that demonstrates the power of the Internet of Things, services and people. It is able to analyze data and forward it to other devices, allowing users to know about total energy usage or overload detection to avoid service interruptions.”
