Pre-Salt Production Hits New Record in BrazilSource: www.gulfoilandgas.com 4/2/2018, Location: South America
The pre-salt production in February totaled 1.763 million boe/d, an increase of 2.3% over the previous month, and corresponded to 53.3% of the total produced in Brazil. 1,408 million barrels of oil per day and 56 million cubic meters of natural gas per day were produced through 83 wells. Total output in the pre-salt surpassed the previous record of 1.723 Mboe/d in January.
The pre-salt wells are those whose production is carried out in the geological horizon called pre-salt, in fields located in the area defined in section IV of caput of article 2 of Law 12,351 / 2010.
In February 2018, the country's oil production was 2.617 million barrels per day (bbl/d), an increase of 0.1% compared to the previous month and a reduction of 2.2% when compared to the previous month. February 2017.
Natural gas production totaled 110 million cubic meters per day, a reduction of 2.3% compared to the previous month and an increase of 3% compared to the same month of 2017.
Use of natural gas
The use of natural gas in Brazil in February reached 96.7% of the total volume produced. 60.5 million cubic meters per day were made available to the market.
Gas flaring totaled 3.6 million cubic meters per day, a reduction of 10.5% compared to the previous month and 9% compared to the same month in 2017.
The Lula field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas. It produced, on average, 850 thousand bbl / d of oil and 36.2 million m3 / d of natural gas.
Maritime fields produced 95.5% of oil and 83.5% of natural gas. The production occurred in 7,698 wells, being 704 seafarers and 6,994 terrestrial. The fields operated by Petrobras produced 93.9% of oil and natural gas.
Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the largest number of producing wells: 1,079. Marlim Sul, in the Campos Basin, was the maritime field with the largest number of producing wells: 94.
The FPSO Cidade de Saquarema, producing in the Lula field was the facility with the largest oil production. It produced 150.3 Mbbl / d through 7 interconnected wells.
The Arara Azul plant, producing in the fields of Arara Azul, Araracanga, Carapanauba, Cupiuba, Urucu and Southwestern Urucu, through 34 interconnected wells, produced 7.8 MMm3 / de was the installation with greater production of natural gas.
In February 2018, 302 granted areas and one of sharing, operated by 29 companies, were responsible for the national production. Of these, 73 are maritime and 230 are terrestrial. It should be noted that, of the total of the producing areas, two are in exploratory activity and producing through Long-Term Test (TLD), and another seven are related to contracts of areas containing marginal accumulations.
The average API grade was 27, with 37.5% of the production being considered light oil (> = 31 ° API), 47.7% medium oil (> = API and <31 API) and 14.7% heavy oil <22 API).
The mature terrestrial basins (fields / long-term tests of the Espirito Santo, Potiguar, Reconcavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 122.2 thousand boe / d, 97.2 thousand bbl / d of oil and 4 million m³ / d of natural gas. Of this total, 117.2 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day were produced by Petrobras and 4.9 thousand boe / d for concessions not operated by Petrobras, with 380 boe / d in Alagoas, 2,175 boe / d in Bahia, 62 boe / d in Esp?rito Santo, 2,088 boe / d in Rio Grande do Norte and 227 boe / d in Sergipe.
