Bergesen d.y. ASA has awarded Advanced Production and Loading AS (APL) an EPC contract for the Single Point Mooring (SPM) system to the Chinguetti oil field development located off the coast of Mauritania, North West Africa. APL will supply an External Turret Production system (ETP) for permanent mooring of the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit Berge Helene.

The Chinguetti FPSO, Berge Helene and SPM will be owned by Bergesen d.y. ASA. and the field will be operated by Woodside Mauritania Pty. Ltd.

The Chinguetti field is located in approximately 800 metres water depth, and 80 kilometres due west of the Mauritanian coastline. In the project's first phase, up to 11 subsea wells will be drilled. These will be connected to the FPSO using a system of subsea manifolds, satellite wells and flexible flowlines and risers. Two of these risers will be for production, one will be for water injection and one will be for gas injection. Additionally there will be one gas lift riser and one EH umbilical. First oil is planned to flow early -in 2006, and the field life is expected to be in the order of 10 years.

The purpose of the SPM is to provide the fixed weather vaning mooring for the FPSO, and to provide the interface between the subsea pipelines and umbilicals allowing the transfer of well fluids from, and injection of water and gas to the wellheads. The FPSO, Berge Helene is a 275.000 DWT vessel, with a production capacity of 75,000 barrels of oil per day and a storage capacity of 1.6 million barrels of oil. The mooring system and vessel are designed to withstand the 100-year storm condition of 6,1 metre waves.

APL's scope for Bergesen d.y. ASAís Chinguetti FPSO project
For the Chinguetti FPSO project, APL will supply a complete ETP system consisting of the following main components:
∑ External Turret Production system (ETP) complete with turret
∑ Riser and Mooring pull in arrangement
∑ Mooring system, chain and polyester
∑ Swivel system

In addition, APL will provide:
∑ Hull modification design
