Cape plc, the international provider of essential support services to the energy and natural resources sectors, has been recognized by Qatar Petrochemical Company, Qatar (QAPCO) for its excellent safety performance during 2008 whilst executing the multi-discipline term maintenance contract.
The term maintenance contract has been carried out by Cape at QAPCO’s plant since 1997 and involves scaffolding, insulation, refractory installation, surface preparation and protective coating works.
Cape is proud to have received “Best contractor safety award 2008”. The award was presented to Cape by Dr. Mohamed Yousef al-Mulla, General Manager QAPCO in acknowledgement of Cape’s operational safety performance. Cape expended approximately 190,000 man-hours without any lost time accident, incident or property damage throughout 2008.
QAPCO is located on the coast at Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC). The plant consists of an Ethylene plant with a designed annual production capacity of 720,000 MT, two LDPE plants with a total annual capacity of 360,000 MT and a Sulphur plant with an annual rated capacity of 70,000 MT.
