The global economy of 2011 was under the complete influence of European sovereign debt crisis. Some principal countries, such as Italy, Greece and Spain, have suffered enormously from the crisis, which led to decrease of economy and increase of unemployment. Odds are still high that the global economy will be further battled and society will be more turbulent. In the wake of the crisis, global shipping industry rallied slightly, and yet has returned to the downward trajectory. On the other hand, global shipping capacity, including tanker, bulk freighter and container ship, has increased to 1.3 billion DWT, up by 10%. Thanks to the price growth of crude oil, price of fuel oil has been further raised in the 1st quarter of 2012. It’s no doubt that cost of fuel oil cannot be neglected. How can the bunker oil market strike a balance?

Entering into the new era of “12th Five Year Plan”, bunker oil market of China has been slowly opening its door to the outside world, which has escalated the internationalization of trade. If China’s outbound trade can maintain the growth rate of 20% in 2011, new opportunities are sure to arrive in the bunker oil market.

2012 (5th) Asia Bunker Oil Forum will be convened from 20th to 22nd June at HK. Let’s embrace new challenges and explore new opportunities for bunker market in Asia
