Future Fuels Africa 2006 is an event that looks at the state of fuel production in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. The first part of this event will look at the change that South Africa will see in the manufacture and distribution of crude oil based fuels that now can only be sold as unleaded fuel, lead replacement fuel and lower sulphur diesel. Notable talks in this section of the event include: Nhlanhla Gumede, Chief Director of Hydrocarbons at the South African Department of Minerals and Energy and Colin McClelland, Director of SAPIA. The second part of this event will take an in-depth look at the production of biofuels on the African continent and the benefit these will exhibit to farmers and rural communities. D1 Oil Company will provide case studies of their work in Africa in the production of biofuel from Jatropha. This event will bring together all major fuel producers as they discuss the impacts cleaner fuels will have on the industry from refinery level right through to the end-user. The Southern African Biofuels Association (SABA) will be presenting, through its members, 5 papers at this event. SABA is a recently formed association that will drive growth in the biofuels industry. SABA is an official endorser of Future Fuels Africa 2006.
