Deep Wind Offshore recently won the auction round for the Saare 2.1. site in the Baltic Sea. Now, the Company has secured exclusive rights to the adjacent Saare 2.2. site. The offshore wind area, expanding from 168 km2 to 252 km2, is located outside Saaremaa Island, with favourable wind conditions for efficient energy production.
The company stays committed to developing more than 10 GW of offshore wind within 10 years. This means both continuing to develop projects in core markets and to exploit opportunities in new markets. With these awards, Estonia is set to become a core market.
“We are pleased to expand our area for exclusive development. We look forward to the discussions with the Estonian Authorities about how this project can contribute to the country reaching its climate goals, enhance energy security, build value chains, and create local jobs”, CEO Knut Vassbotn of Deep Wind Offshore said.
