OEC Signs a Contract to Implement Seismic Surveys for the Khana Oil Patch with Geoged

Under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and the Minister of Oil, Mr. Hayan Abdul-Ghani, and in the presence of the Undersecretary for Extraction Affairs, Mr. (Bassem Muhammad Khudair), a contract was signed today for the implementation of a two- and three-dimensional seismic survey of the Khana oil patch within Diyala Governorate with the Chinese Geojeed Company for the benefit of the Central Oil Company. The Undersecretary for Extraction Affairs, Mr. Bassem Muhammad Khudair, said: On behalf of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, today we attended the signing of a contract for transferring the two- and three-dimensional seismic survey of the Khana oil patch within the fifth licensing round to the Oil Exploration Company, and he added that the implementation of this The contract achieves the strategic vision of the oil sector by involving national oil companies in the implementation of oil projects in a manner consistent with future plans. He continued, saying: The Ministry is keen to increase production capacity in addition to improving working conditions and environment, as well as reducing gas imports, also providing job opportunities and enhancing the state’s financial revenues from During the implementation of such giant projects.

For his part, the Director General of the Petroleum Exploration Company, Mr. Osama Raouf Hussein, said: We are very happy to sign this contract with the Chinese company Geojeed, as this is a project that will be implemented by the Petroleum Exploration Company with its national staff and advanced equipment. He explained that the implementation of the contract will be in two parts, the first two-dimensional. Its size is 770 km / length, while the size of the second part is 700 square km. This project is considered to have promising oil and gas potential, in addition to employing national workers working in the areas surrounding the project.

The Director General of the Central Oil Company, Mr. Muhammad Yassin, stated: The (Naft Khana) patch is one of a group of oil patches in Diyala Governorate, which includes four explored fields. Two-dimensional and three-dimensional seismic surveys will be conducted in accordance with this contract to explore the quantities of oil and gas present in it, which are It is hoped that it will add large quantities of crude oil and gas to local production, and equip electrical power generation plants with local fuel instead of imported fuel.
