Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, visited the Bapco Refining Company, a part of the Bapco Energies Group.
Lt. General Al Hassan was received by Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, CEO of Bapco Refining.
Lt. General Al Hassan said the visit aimed at strengthening security and safety cooperation between the company and the Interior Ministry, based on the instructions of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior. He said the focus of the cooperation will be security and safety measures and emergency management, in line with the National Emergency Strategy, particularly with the construction work of the new refinery of Bapco nearing completion.
During the visit, Lt. Gen. Al Hassan was briefed on the company's advanced security and safety system and readiness.
Dr. Jawahery commended the ministry's support in all aspects of emergency management and civil protection, which included training the company's security and safety employees and providing training courses and workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of the company's affiliates. He also commended the efforts of the General Directorate of Civil Defence and its cooperation with the company’s firefighting and rescuing team.
Lt. General Al Hassan also visited the Bapco command centre and the control room for the development project of the Bapco refinery. He commended the advanced security systems, safety procedures, and efforts to enhance the skills of the local security workforce.
Lt. General Al Hassan said Bapco Refining was one of the biggest industrial facilities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and its operations required keeping updated on the latest in industrial security and safety. In this regard, he underscored the ministry’s readiness to support the company in this aspect.
At the end of the visit, Lt. General Al Hassan commended the efforts of the teams involved in resolving the issue of the recent accident in one of the company's tanks during heavy rainfall and in mitigating the effects of the accident. He emphasied the importance of conducting joint exercises and training to maintain the company’s security and safety.
