The cumulative gas injection volume of the Wenjisang Gas Storage Group of the Tuha Oilfield, the largest gas storage group in Northwest China, exceeded 1 billion cubic meters, with an average daily gas injection volume of 2.82 million cubic meters, reserving abundant "food" in advance to ensure supply this winter and next spring.
The Wenjisang gas storage group in Tuha Oilfield is the first medium-porosity and medium-permeability gas reservoir group in western my country. It is rebuilt from four depleted gas reservoirs, namely Wenxi 1, Wenba, Nanhu and Qiudong. The gas reservoirs are characterized by thick caprock, stable distribution, good sealing and good reservoir properties. Establishing underground gas storage in depleted gas reservoirs is the most commonly used and economical form of underground gas storage in the world. It has become the first choice for underground gas storage due to its low cost and reliable operation. So far, the Wenxi 1 and Wenba gas reservoirs have been built and put into operation in Tuha Oilfield, with a working gas volume of 1.04 billion cubic meters.
The construction of the Wenjisang gas storage complex started in May 2021. In August 2022, the first gas storage, Wenxi No. 1, was successfully put into operation. In October 2023, Wenba Gas Storage was successfully put into operation. In April this year, the two storages were injected at the same time for the first time. At present, the feasibility study plans of the proposed Nanhu and Qiudong gas storages have been successfully reviewed, and the construction of the gas storage complex has made significant progress.
In the next step, Tuha Oilfield will accelerate the construction of Nanhu and Qiudong gas reservoirs according to the construction idea of ??"comprehensive planning, step-by-step implementation, and orderly advancement", strive to start construction this year, and fully complete the gas storage group by the end of the "14th Five-Year Plan". By then, the Wenjisang gas storage group will work together with surrounding gas reservoirs to improve the regional gas storage peak-shaving capacity, protect people's livelihood, and promote high-quality development.
