House Energy Action Team (HEAT) Chairman August Pfluger (TX-11) recently joined Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) and the House Energy Export Caucus in demanding the Biden-Harris administration authorize liquified natural gas (LNG) export permits after a federal judge blocked the administration’s ban on new permits.
Congressman Pfluger said, "Since before coming to office, I made it my mission to enable U.S. energy producers to do what they do best: fuel our nation and allies with affordable, reliable, secure energy. Unfortunately, the Biden-Harris Administration has worked to shackle the industry with burdensome regulations that stifle production—and even went so far as to impose an illegal ban on LNG exports. The U.S. House of Representatives passed my legislation to lift the administration's ban and a federal judge has also deemed it unlawful. Especially considering the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East, President Biden and Vice President Harris must immediately direct their Department of Energy to expedite U.S. LNG approvals."
Congressman Arrington said, “Since his first day in office, President Biden has launched a unilateral assault on American oil and gas, choking the lifeblood of our economy, crushing consumers with high energy costs, and sending oil production overseas — enriching our adversaries like Russia and China. Thankfully, Biden’s ban on American LNG export permits was blocked. Yet, his administration is still dragging its heels on approving these permits in an attempt to placate the far-Left. It’s critical that the DOE swiftly approve stalled export permit applications to strengthen our economy, bolster our energy security, and restore American energy dominance.”
