EpiSensor, a leader in IoT infrastructure for the sustainable energy transition, announces its key role in integrating 2,500 Gogoro battery-swapping stations into Enel X’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP) in Taiwan. Enel X operates both Taiwan and the world’s largest Demand Response VPP. This groundbreaking project, the first of its kind, utilises Gogoro’s smart batteries and battery swapping stations distributed across Taiwan into Enel X’s VPP to provide capacity similar to the power used by tens of thousands of households, which can significantly boost Taiwan’s renewable energy capabilities.
As a key Enel X technology partner, EpiSensor ensured the seamless participation of Gogoro’s battery-swapping ecosystem in Enel X’s VPP. This collaboration showcases the scale and success of this innovative partnership.
Key Features of EpiSensor’s Technology:
- Sensors on thousands of remote sites monitor power consumption and react to frequency oscillations on the grid within a fraction of a second.
- Accurate data is securely delivered to Enel X’s IoT platform for aggregation and analysis, and in turn, made available to Taiwan’s transmission system operator in real time.
- The technology replaces traditional ‘peaker’ power plants and their associated emissions.
