E.ON and MediaMarktSaturn enter into strategic partnership
Nationwide expansion initially planned at 80 locations of the electronics retailer
Up to 300 new charging points will strengthen the nationwide E.ON Drive network in future

E.ON is equipping locations of consumer electronics market leader MediaMarktSaturn across Germany with state-of-the-art fast-charging infrastructure for electric cars. By 2026, around 300 new public charging points will initially be installed at around 80 of the MediaMarktSaturn Group’s highly frequented consumer electronics stores. They will make the locations even more attractive, make charging easier for customers and further strengthen the nationwide E.ON Drive network.

E.ON and MediaMarktSaturn have already started planning and building the first fast-charging stations. This means that customers will be able to use numerous charging options at the stores as early as 2024. The locations will be equipped with ultra-fast charging stations - so-called High Power Chargers (HPC) - with outputs of up to 300 kilowatt. Depending on the technical requirements of the respective electric vehicle, drivers can conveniently charge up to 200 kilometers of range in 10 minutes while shopping. E.ON supplies 100 percent green electricity at all charging points.

“With the new electric charging options at MediaMarktSaturn, we are sending a strong signal to our customers and for the future of electromobility. Thanks to our cooperation with E.ON, customers can now conveniently charge their cars at numerous MediaMarktSaturn locations while they shop. This new range of charging points further enhances our brick-and-mortar stores and the local shopping experience and supports our goal of promoting a more sustainable lifestyle,” says Karsten Wildberger, CEO MediaMarktSaturn.

“We are proud to have MediaMarktSaturn, Europe's leading consumer electronics retailer, as a long-term and strategic partner. This will enable us to equip a large number of attractive locations with fast-charging infrastructure and thus make an important contribution to the mobility transition and climate protection,” says Marc Spieker, E.ON Board Member for Customer Solutions. “E.ON Drive already operates one of the largest charging networks in Europe. At least 1,000 new public fast-charging points are added every year. Cooperation with partners such as MediaMarktSaturn is a key component of this, alongside the construction of our own charging parks.”
