The Andalusian Regional Minister of Industry, Energy and Mines, Jorge Paradela, closed today in Seville, Spain an event organised by Iberdrola and CTA (Corporación Tecnológica de Andalucía or Technological Corporation of Andalusia) to present the Q-Zero Partnership and the opportunities offered by decarbonisation for the Andalusian economy, which was attended by more than 100 representatives of organisations related to this industry.
Paradela pointed out that we are "facing a major challenge that is bringing a change of mentality in industry and a greater adaptation of the business culture towards sustainability’. In this challenge, ‘industry and technological development have to work together to implement the technological solutions required to address all the energy needs" of industrial processes, he added.
Iberdrola's Director of Climate Change and Alliances, Gonzalo Sáenz de Miera, pointed out that "clean industry is the future as long as it is competitive’ and added that ‘Andalusia and Spain have enormous opportunities to take advantage of them because they have economic energy, a good industrial base and a proactive Administration".
He also stressed that, ‘in a context of global competition to take advantage of industrial opportunities, Andalusia is a clear leader in the green economy, but, in order to really make the most of this transition, we must continue to commit to ambitious policies, working in alliances, such as this Alliance Q-Zero, which will provide employment and industrial opportunities for Spain and, in particular, for Andalusia’.
The Q-Zero Alliance(https://alianzaqcero.es) is an initiative launched this year by Iberdrola and 70 other Spanish industries to accelerate the decarbonisation of thermal demand in industry and buildings and to promote the coming together of renewable electricity generation and the needs of thermal energy consumers.
