Sonangol, represented by administrator Jorge Vinhas and senior managers, was present at the official opening of the 10th Week and 8th African Engineering Conference , which will take place from 9 to 13 September, at the Intercontinental Hotel, in Luanda, under the theme “Designing the Future: Innovative Infrastructure Solutions for a Sustainable Africa and Accelerating the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)” .
The event, which is expected to receive around 300 participants per day and includes lectures by specialist engineers from the flagship oil company on the panels, began with a speech by the Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira , who stressed the importance of Engineering sciences as a driving force for the continent's development and highlighted structural achievements such as “projects in the Energy sector, with the construction of hydroelectric dams and solar parks, in Telecommunications and Information Technologies, with fibre optic projects and the National Space Programme, with emphasis on ANGOSAT-2” .
During his visit to the Sonangol stand , the minister kept in touch with the main initiatives underway at the company and answered a Quiz about MSTelcom available on an interactive panel.
Also participating in the opening of the event were the members of the executive committees of Sonangol Exploration and Production, Filomena Oliveira , and of Sonangol Refining and Petrochemicals, Nazaré de Sousa , the directors Maria Luísa Van-Dúnem , Edson Pongolola and Rui Benjamim , in addition to other company executives.
