TGS, a global provider of energy data and intelligence, today announced the availability of the Midland Basin Pontiac 3D multi-client seismic fast-track dataset. Pontiac 3D is designed to assist in the evaluation and horizontal development of the Spraberry and Wolfcamp formations, as well as emerging deeper plays in the Barnett Shale and Devonian horizons. Numerous structural and stratigraphic complexities are present in the subsurface along the Midland Basin - Central Basin Platform margin, where accurate imaging of the subsurface is critical to successfully exploring and developing the prospective horizons
The Pontiac 3D covers approximately 267 square miles and is located in Midland, Ector, Upton, and Crane counties, Texas. Final delivery is expected in the second quarter of 2025. The project is supported by industry funding, and TGS will be processed by TGS using its well data for calibration and modern land imaging technology, including Dynamic Matching Full-Waveform Inversion (DM FWI), which uses both refractors and reflections to provide clients with greater reservoir understanding.
"TGS is committed to providing high-quality data and intelligence to drive exploration and production success," said David Hajovsky, Executive Vice President of Multi-client. "The Pontiac 3D Seismic Survey represents a significant investment in understanding the Midland Basin. Alongside our other supporting products in the region, such as our extensive well-log library and interpretive products, we are confident this survey will provide valuable insights for our clients."
Fast-track seismic data is now available to license on a multi-client basis.
