Shell is progressing well with the clean-up effort on Tuesday (October 22, 2024) following an oil leak from a land-based pipeline on the Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Singapore on Bukom.

Most of the oil around Bukom has been cleaned up with only small patches of light sheens around Bukom island and Bukom Kechil remaining. Sheen is a very thin layer of oil floating on the water surface.

Shell has not received any reports of new oil sightings at sea and ashore on Tuesday. As a precaution, we have put in resources to support any clean-up that may be required.

We have deployed vessels and absorbent booms to remove any remnants of oil in the vicinity of Bukom. We will continue working closely with the relevant authorities on the clean-up effort required and to monitor the situation.

Our priority is to ensure the safety of people and to limit environmental impact as we work on resolving this as quickly as possible. We appreciate the support and cooperation from authorities and our communities as we work diligently to minimise the impact from this incident.
