Madrid-based RIC Energy vying for share of $1.2bn funding pot available for California’s ARCHES hub
Spanish solar developer RIC Energy has announced plans to build what it describes as “California’s largest” green hydrogen plant at a farm in the Mojave Desert, the company announced yesterday.
The installation will comprise a 100-120MW electrolyser, powered by 700MW-1GW of off-grid solar power, the company told Hydrogen Insight, alongside around 1GWh of battery storage.
It will be located at the Cadiz Ranch owned by Cadiz, a privately-owned Californian water company. The park houses nine underground water wells and an aquifer system that currently support more than 300 acres (121 hectares) of citrus groves, hemp and vegetable production.
