OMV Resumes Operations in Libya After Halt Since 2011

The Austrian oil company OMV resumed its exploration activities in Libya, focusing on Block 106/4 in the Sirte Basin to continue drilling at the exploration well B1 – 106/4 (ESSAR PROSPECT).

Zueitina Oil Company is overseeing the drilling operations, with the well expected to reach a final depth of 10,130 feet (3,087 meters) upon completion.

The return of these companies is part of the National Oil Corporation’s (NOC) strategy to boost oil reserves, following a series of measures and successes that have facilitated and supported the resumption of their operations.
