Dushanzi Petrochemical's Technological Innovation Drives Green and Low-Carbon Development

China Petroleum Network News (Reporter Li Zhiqiang, Correspondent Cai Hongjiang) Dushanzi Petrochemical Company plays a leading role in scientific and technological innovation and builds an advanced energy-saving and water-saving enterprise. The company's 1.1 million tons/year ethylene unit has won the 2023 energy efficiency and water efficiency "leader" benchmark enterprise for key products in the petroleum and chemical industry. Since the launch of the energy efficiency "leader" and water efficiency "leader" selection announcement in 2012, Dushanzi Petrochemical has won the energy efficiency "leader" award issued by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation for 12 consecutive years, and has won the water efficiency "leader" honor for 4 consecutive years.

Dushihua has thoroughly implemented the "dual carbon" strategy, insisted on energy conservation as the first energy source, emission reduction as the main focus, actively responded to the trend of diversified, clean and low-carbon transformation of the energy structure, and expanded development space. At the beginning of 2020, Dushihua was selected as the first batch of "China Petroleum Green Enterprises". Dushihua adheres to the concept of "all costs can be reduced" for the 1.1 million tons/year ethylene unit, benchmarks advanced ones, uses information technology tools, establishes an energy management and control system, pays attention to energy consumption process analysis, continuously optimizes production operations, continuously reduces the energy consumption level of the unit, and reduces the wastewater discharge of the unit.

Dushihua closely monitors the ethylene energy consumption indicators of the top domestic companies every month, compares them with the raw material structure, load rate, yield, production operation and other aspects, finds the crux of the problem, takes measures such as optimizing the raw material structure and optimizing the time of cracking furnace input and output, puts into use advanced control and optimization application system (APC) and real-time optimization system (RTO), pays real-time attention to the properties of raw material components, and adjusts the cracking depth in a timely and accurate manner. The yield of diolefins in the ethylene unit increased by 0.37 percentage points year-on-year, and the comprehensive energy consumption of ethylene decreased by 5.184 kg of standard oil/ton. Dushihua independently researched and developed an automatic input and output furnace program. During the input and output period, the total feed load of the unit remains constant, and the fluctuation of each input and output furnace can be reduced by 1% to 2%, saving 3.3 kg of standard oil/ton of energy each time.

Dushihua regularly performs soot blowing operations on cracking furnaces to improve the thermal efficiency of cracking furnaces, the temperature of ultra-high pressure steam and the operating efficiency of cracking gas compressors, and increase the production of ultra-high pressure steam. In 2019, Dushihua added a toluene extraction system. After optimization and adjustment, the extraction rate reached 94%, the styrene content in process water decreased significantly, and the energy consumption of the device decreased by 0.67 kg of standard oil/ton of ethylene year-on-year.
