In Kyzylorda, the II technical seminar on the topic of geological exploration and increasing oil production in oil fields has started. The event was attended by Mayor of Kyzylorda Region Nurlybek Nalibayev, Chairman of the Board of KazMunayGas NC JSC Askhat Khasenov, Vice Minister of Energy Kudaibergen Arymbek, Deputy Director General of China National Oil and Gas Corporation (CNPC) Zhang Daowei, Director General of CNODC He Wenyuan and leading experts in the field. involved.

It is no accident that Kyzylorda region was chosen as a platform for discussion of oil and gas issues. Oil production in the region is decreasing due to depletion of reserves in the main deposits. In 2013, the level of oil production in Kyzylorda region was 11 million tons, and in 2023, less than 4 million tons of oil was produced. According to forecasts, the volume of oil production will decrease to about 3% this year (3.6 million tons of oil will be produced this year, which is 100 thousand tons less than in 2023).

In order to increase geological exploration, explore new areas, replenish oil reserves, and introduce innovative technologies, KMG will intensify cooperation with one of its main partners in the region, CNPC.

Askhat Khasenov noted that the South Torgai oil and gas basin has great potential for development and requires deep research. According to the data of "Comprehensive study of sedimentary basins", the reserves of the Southern Torgai basin are estimated to exceed 3.2 billion tons. Replenishment of hydrocarbon reserves is one of the main problems. This will be possible through the use of new technologies in full-scale geological exploration and cooperation with international partners.

"Southern Torgai oil and gas basin is one of the new and promising regions for geological exploration, which requires research and innovative approach. Replenishment of hydrocarbon reserves by exploring deep layers of Paleozoic sediments is our main task. This is a complex, but doable work that requires close cooperation and advanced technologies," said Askhat Khasenov.

In order to open new deposits, it is necessary to expand the horizon of geological exploration to such little-explored basins as North Torgai, Shu-Sarysu and Syrdarya.

As a national company, "KazMunayGas" pays special attention to the development of the resource base, including the Kyzylorda region. In May of this year, KMG began drilling a well at a depth of 5,500 meters at its own expense in the Torgai Paleozoic site. No well has been drilled to such a depth in this area before.

At the seminar site, NC JSC "KazMunayGas" and CNODC (subsidiary company of CNPC) signed a confidentiality agreement and a plan for joint exploration of the geological prospecting potential of the eastern part of the Caspian basin.

Based on the results of the research, the areas where geological exploration will be carried out will be determined.

In addition, the administration of Kyzylorda region, the Ministry of Energy and JV "Kazgermunay" LLP signed a memorandum on the implementation of an investment project aimed at the socio-economic development of the region.

According to the memorandum, it is planned to process raw gas produced in other fields at the gas production facilities of JV "Kazgermunay" LLP, which will allow to increase the supply of liquefied petroleum gas to the domestic market.

This cooperation will contribute to attracting investments in the gas industry, ensuring a stable supply of liquefied petroleum gas to Kyzylorda region, saving jobs and increasing tax revenues for the region's budget.
