Havtil has commissioned DNV to prepare a knowledge overview that covers the fundamental risk factors involved in the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the petroleum industry, especially with regard to major accident risk.

The objective is to help improve the knowledge of risks associated with AI systems in the petroleum sector.

The report explores how AI can improve both efficiency and safety while taking into account the unique risks AI introduces compared to traditional IT and automation systems.
