The Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority (Havtil) has carried out an audit of ConocoPhillips (COPNO)’s management of emergency preparedness and the helideck at Embla 2/7D.
The audit was conducted from 17 to 20 September 2024 with technical assistance from the Civil Aviation Authority Norway.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to verify processes and systems that contribute to ensuring the comprehensive management of emergency preparedness, and to verify that the helideck complies with regulatory requirements in order to help ensure safe helicopter operations and personnel transport.
Result
Eight non-conformities were identified, concerning:
Man overboard (MOB) boat
Lifeboats
Non-slip protection
Safety net
Marking of obstacles on helideck
Helideck lighting
Visual warning system
Fire extinguishing system for helideck
In addition, two improvement points were identified, concerning:
Fire and rescue preparedness
Deficiencies in maintenance system
