- The three solar PV plants, Belinchón I, II and III, will have a total capacity of 162 MWdc and their construction will create over 400 jobs
- Together, these three renewable energy projects will help avoid over 71,000 tons of CO2 per year, reinforcing Zelestra’s commitment to making decarbonization a reality for customers and communities

Zelestra, a global, multi-technology, customer-focused renewable energy company, has begun construction of three new solar PV plants in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. These projects – Belinchón I, II and III – are located in Cuenca and will have a total capacity of 162 MWdc.

Together, Belinchon I, II and III will avoid the emission of more than 71,000 tons of CO2 per year, strengthening Zelestra’s commitment to sustainable development and the decarbonization of the communities in which it operates.

In addition to its contribution to decarbonization, the construction of these facilities will create more than 400 jobs throughout the projects’ phases. The plants are scheduled to start operating in the second quarter of 2026.

Leo Moreno, Zelestra’s CEO, commented: “We are proud to announce the start of these projects, as the new facilities will strengthen our portfolio of operating projects in Spain while allowing us to generate environmental benefits for our home market customers”.

These three projects are part of a broader collaboration within the Energize program, including Takeda Pharmaceuticals International AG, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, and UCB, and suppliers Avantor, Organon LLC, Perrigo, and West Pharmaceutical Services Inc., which jointly have collaborated to execute an aggregated total purchase of 305 GWh of renewable energy per year from Zelestra for 10 years.

The construction of these three new solar projects by Zelestra demonstrates the company’s role in building projects at scale and fostering sustainability.
