The State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) together with the "M-Gaz" company has started the direct supply of natural gas to social consumers in the Ruse region of Bulgaria.
"St. St. Cyril and Methodius" primary school.
Murad Heydarov, the head of SOCAR's regional office for the Balkans, Pencho Milkov, the mayor of Ruse, and Stoyan Manolov, the chief executive officer of M-Gas, took part in the ceremony on the occasion of the completion of the construction of the compressed natural gas (CNG) unit at the school.
This is a continuation of the successful partnership between SOCAR and M-Gaz, which began on June 21, 2024, when natural gas supplies to industrial enterprises in Bulgaria began.
In the next few months, 10 more schools and kindergartens in Ruse region are planned to receive natural gas from SOCAR. This project will help reduce carbon emissions and energy costs in Ruse.
SOCAR, which supplies 50% of the country's gas consumption, aims to expand its presence in Bulgaria's gas market to a share of around 7.5% in the domestic distribution sector.
By supplying more climate-friendly natural gas in a number of municipalities of this country, SOCAR contributes to the gradual abandonment of traditional energy sources (fuel oil, lignite, diesel), the implementation of Bulgaria's climate protection strategy and the efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
