The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Refining Affairs, Mr. Hamid Younis, chaired a meeting today, Tuesday, to follow up and discuss the operations of receiving and operating the Karbala oil refinery.
During the meeting, the Undersecretary stressed the importance of establishing a mechanism for operating the refinery starting next year, especially since it is one of the strategic projects and within the government program to increase production capacities of petroleum products, and it is the first refinery in Iraq to operate with modern technologies (Euro 5).
The meeting discussed the mechanism for receiving the refinery from the Korean company (JV), while ensuring the continuity of the refinery's operation at high rates and capacities, as the refinery constitutes a percentage of local production of petroleum derivatives estimated at 17%.
The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Oil Projects Company, the Director General of the Middle Refineries Company, the Director of the Karbala Refinery, and relevant authorities.
