Notre-Dame: Stronger and Safer
After five years of meticulous restoration following the devastating fire in 2019, Notre-Dame de Paris is ready to reopen its doors. Nexans is proud to have played an important role in this extraordinary collective effort, contributing its expertise to ensure the cathedral is safer and more secure.

200 Kilometers of Protection
As part of its sponsorship agreement, Nexans donated nearly 200 kilometers of FIRE SAFETY Cables: fire-resistant and fire-retardant, designed and manufactured in France at our Autun and Mehun-sur-Yèvre sites. These advanced cables are not only designed to deliver electricity but also to enhance fire safety .

Built to meet the highest safety standards, Alsecure® cables help slow the spread of fire, minimize toxic gas emissions, and facilitate evacuations by producing low levels of smoke. These features are crucial in protecting lives and preserving the cathedral, ensuring its cultural and historical legacy endures.

Inspiring Change Beyond Notre-Dame
The innovative fire safety measures implemented at Notre-Dame are set to influence broader regulations across France. Upcoming updates to national building codes will extend these norms to public buildings and high-rises.

Nexans' contribution to Notre-Dame's restoration isn't just about cables – it's about pioneering a safer future. This project embodies the Group's vision to merge cutting-edge technology with a commitment to preserve cultural heritage and public spaces.

Unity in Action
For Nexans employees, contributing to this historic project exemplified the Group's core value of UNITY. The teams are proud and deeply moved to have brought the fruit of their expertise to Notre Dame, particularly in traditional crafts such as metallurgy, which Nexans has upheld in France and whose impact resonates far beyond our borders.

Innovation and unity can overcome even the greatest challenges. Nexans is proud to have been part of this journey, contributing to a safer future for landmarks as well as for the community.
