CPS Energy has expanded its bill payment options to allow customers to pay their energy bills in cash at thousands of participating retail locations. This new payment service provides customers with greater flexibility and convenience to manage their bills.
Participating retailers include HEB, CVS, Walgreens, Dollar General, 7-Eleven, Family Dollar, Stripes, and Pilot Flying J, offering more in-person payment access across the utility's service territory. Customers can make payments at the checkout or the retailer's designated payment station by presenting a barcode from their CPS Energy bill or generating one through the utility's online payment system . Barcodes can be printed or displayed on a smartphone for a seamless experience. Payments can be made in cash at all participating locations, and debit cards are accepted at select retailers like HEB, Dollar General, Family Dollar, and Pilot Flying J. Credit cards are not accepted, and a vendor convenience fee of $1.99 is applied to each transaction.
“Providing convenient payment options is part of our commitment to delivering excellent service to our customers,” said Christen Wagoner, Vice President of Customer Experience Operations at CPS Energy. “The retail cash payment option makes it easier for customers to manage their bills while visiting locations they already frequent, giving them another way to stay connected and in control of their energy services.”
This new service is part of CPS Energy's broader efforts to enhance customer convenience. Customers who do not have a barcode can generate one quickly through CPS Energy's EZ Pay online system and save it for further use. Barcodes are account-specific, so new barcodes must be generated if an account number changes. Customers can continue utilizing existing payment options, such as cash or check payments at CPS Energy Walk-in Customer Service Centers and the Western Union payment service at retail locations.
CPS Energy offers a variety of assistance programs for customers in need of bill payment assistance. Customers can visit Ways to Pay My CPS Energy Bill on CPS Energy's website or call the utility's Energy Advisors at 210-353-2222 for more information on payment methods or bill assistance.
