Chiyoda Corporation (Chiyoda) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for installing SAF production facilities in Tokuyama Complex (Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, hereinafter “the Complex”) by Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. (Idemitsu Kosan).
Idemitsu Kosan is aiming to establish a domestic supply chain to produce 500,000 kL of SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) per year to achieve the initial goal of Japanese government and aviation industry to replace 10% of fuel consumption by Japanese airlines with SAF by 2030. At the Complex, Idemitsu Kosan has announced to produce 250,000 kL of SAF per year by HEFA*1 technology after FY2028 onwards.
By utilizing the technical capabilities and experiences Chiyoda has mainly built up in the field of oil and gas plant engineering over 70 years, Chiyoda will proactively respond to ensure the implementation of the facilities for SAF production at the Complex and the decarbonization of aviation fuel, through the execution of the FEED work as following the FS which was conducted last year.
As comprehensive engineering company, Chiyoda is actively engaged in the development of Biofuel production technology towards the realization of a carbon-neutral society. Through these initiatives, Chiyoda is engaged in EPC projects worldwide and the development of technologies to realize a carbon-neutral society, and will continue contributing to the development of sustainable society under our purpose of ‘Enriching Society through Engineering Value’.
