The 113th meeting of the OAPEC Council of Ministers kicks off in Kuwait

The 113th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) kicked off today, Sunday, in the State of Kuwait, with the attendance of the oil and energy ministers of the member states of the organization. In his opening speech, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs of the State of Qatar, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Energy and Chairman of the current session of the Council, Saad Al-Kaabi, welcomed the Kuwaiti Minister of Oil Tariq Al-Roumi, the Libyan Minister of Oil and Gas Dr. Khalifa Abdul-Sadig, and the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, who are participating in the Council meetings for the first time, wishing them all success.

He expressed his thanks to the Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Oil Dr. Imad Al-Ateeqi, the former Minister of Oil and Gas in Libya Muhammad Aoun, and the former Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tariq Al-Molla for their distinguished efforts in supporting the work and activities of the organization.

He also expressed his thanks, on his behalf and on behalf of the Ministers of Energy and Petroleum in the member states, to the State of Kuwait, its leadership, government and people, for its generous hosting of the organization's meetings on its good land and its unlimited support.

He appreciated the efforts of the General Secretariat of the Organization and its Secretary-General Jamal Al-Loughani in preparing and facilitating the holding of this meeting in a manner that ensures its success, praising Al-Loughani's outstanding efforts in implementing the Council's decision regarding the development of the organization's work and its restructuring since assuming his position. For his part, the Secretary-General of (OAPEC) Jamal Al-Loughani welcomed in a similar speech the new ministers who are participating in the Council's meetings for the first time, stressing that "their participation is a distinctive addition that enhances the work of the organization and supports the achievement of its goals."

Al-Loughani mourned the two former Secretaries-General of the Organization, Abbas Al-Naqi and Abdulaziz Al-Turki, who left immortal fingerprints that will remain a source of pride and honor for the organization and made great contributions that will remain immortal in the memory of (OAPEC). He stated that the General Secretariat sent to the ministers on November 21st last year the draft agenda of the 113th meeting to study its items, looking forward to the valuable deliberations and the wise decisions that will be taken that will certainly contribute to supporting the work of the organization, enhancing its position and shaping its future.

He expressed his appreciation to the Council of Ministers of the Organization for their initiative aimed at developing and restructuring the Organization, which represents a qualitative shift in its path and reflects a strategic vision towards a better future, stressing that the Council’s support for this initiative constitutes the fundamental pillar for its success.
