Asso.subsea is pleased to announce the signing of a significant contract with Hellenic Cables for offshore cable installation activities related to Lot 1 of the 50Hertz OST-6-1 project. This major initiative involves connecting an offshore wind farm with a capacity of approximately 900 MW located in the O-6 area of the German Baltic Sea, utilizing advanced 220 kV AC technology.
Asso.subsea will be responsible for installing two submarine export cables running from the Western Offshore Substation (OSS) to the onshore joint bay, with the cable route of approximately 40 km offshore. The cable laying vessel Atalanti will be the main asset deployed on this challenging project, thanks to her unrivalled shallow water capabilities, while the in-house developed AssoTrencher V machines will be used to undertake the burial works.
Asso.subsea and Hellenic Cables are dedicated to expanding energy infrastructure in the German Baltic Sea region, which supports the broader objectives of renewable energy and sustainability. This partnership demonstrates both companies’ commitment to innovation and expertise in offshore cable systems.
“We are very excited about this new collaboration with Hellenic Cables, and are confident that our combined expertise will significantly contribute to the success of the OST-6-1 project,” stated Mr. Alessandro Panico, Business Development Director at Asso.subsea. “This project represents a substantial step forward in enhancing the region’s energy infrastructure and security, while also advancing the use of renewable energy sources.”
