Virginia Transformer Corporation, the largest U.S.-owned power transformer manufacturer in North America, recently was selected by major data center companies to supply its industry-leading transformers to key data center projects across the United States. The recent orders for data center transformers are major in size and are scheduled to be produced and shipped to data center customers from 2026 to 2027.
The transformers will be manufactured in the U.S. and delivered to locations in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, and South Carolina. The transformers will help provide reliable and efficient power for critical data center operations such as cloud storage, artificial intelligence, and information processing. Reliability of transformers is key to data center operations as downtime for just an hour is estimated to cost more than a half million dollars…and up to nearly $13 million a day in downtime costs according to a study by Ponemon Institute.
These orders demonstrate the continued leadership of Virginia Transformer as the trusted supplier of transformers to the data center market with the shortest lead times in the industry. Virginia Transformer is known throughout the industry for its leading design and reliability – transformers are designed for a 60-year life – as well as having the shortest lead times.
