As previously reported in a statement made dated 30 Aug 2023, PETRONAS wishes to reiterate that the cessation of the Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP) operations is specifically in relation to the section of the SSGP that runs through Lawas, Limbang, Miri and Bintulu in Sarawak. The remaining part of SSGP will continue operating normally.

This decision was made after a thorough review of the viability of this specific section of the SSGP, amid the repeated challenges of inclement environmental factors which have emerged and continue to escalate after several years into its operation, impacting the integrity and safety of the surrounding area. PETRONAS would like to assure its customers that the partial cessation will not affect PETRONAS’ commitment to ensure reliable supply of energy and fulfil its contractual obligations.

PETRONAS remains committed to invest in Sabah and Sarawak through the development of value adding oil and gas and energy-related projects in both states.
