CIMC Raffles wishes to announce the delivery of the Scarabeo 9 to its valued client, Saipem S.p.A, based on mutually agreed work scope and value in Yantai, Shandong province, China.
The Scarabeo 9 is a 6th-generation Dynamic Positioning 3 semi-submersible rig, capable of drilling at 3,600 meters of water. She will be handed over to a Singapore yard for commissioning of its marine and drilling systems.
Further, major milestones for two of the yard's other semi-submersible rigs were reached. The COSL Pioneer, built for China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) Group, a 6th-generation rig featuring Dynamic Positioning 3 systems, completed its sea trials on 12 September 2010 and is ready for delivery on or around 26 October 2010.
Another 4th-generation rig, the SS Pantanal, built for a Brazil client, Schahin Group, commenced sea trials on 24 September 2010. She is scheduled to be delivered in 2010.
Mr. Brian Chang, Chief Executive Officer of CIMC Raffles said, “Sea trials mark the final step towards rig delivery and involve a series of tests on the rigs' sophisticated systems. It is indeed encouraging for the yard to have achieved its first successful sea trial on a complex rig within a 14-day period. With this directly relevant and valuable experience gained, we are more confident of ourselves in delivering existing projects and taking on new challenges.
We thank our clients for their continued support. The yard looks ahead and would redouble efforts on all
projects going forward.”
