Sustainable Marine Technologies (SMT), the innovative company creating practical engineering solutions for the marine renewable energy industry, has been nominated for 'Newcomer of the Year' in the inaugural international tidal energy awards 2010.
The nomination is the result of the young integration engineering consultancy's commitment to reducing the costs and risks of deploying renewable energy technologies in the marine environment.
Managing Director, Jason Hayman, says: "All of us are very proud to have had SMT nominated for the tidal 'Newcomer of the Year' award.
"We have worked very hard since our formation in 2008 to achieve our vision of making marine renewables a reality by creating step changes in minimising both deployment costs and risks through innovative thinking coupled with commercially viable solutions.
"We are delighted that our commitment to the industry is being recognised and we see this nomination as further proof that we are very much on the right course!"
The nominations for the Tidal Today award have been selected by an independent panel of judges and the final winner will be decided by votes from delegates to the International Tidal Energy Summit which takes place in London tomorrow Tuesday and Wednesday (23-24 November 2010).
Adds Jason Hayman: "We will be at the Summit and will be happy to meet with any of the attendees who would like to find out more about how Sustainable Marine Technologies is helping organisations to overcome the unique problems they face in designing, building, deploying, installing and maintaining successful tidal, wind and wave projects cost effectively".
