In the frame of raising the efficiency of national staff in the areas of oil and gas, and the implementation of the policy and the instructions of the Management Committee of the National Oil Corporation in the creation of national technical staff to work in the oil sector, HE. Dr. .Shokri Ghanem, chairman of the National Oil Corporation opened the new headquarters of the Centre for technical and administrative development.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, which was attended by the deputy chairman General Manager of NOC and Members of the Management Committee and some general managers and directors of departments and a number of specialists from NOC, Dr. Ghanem welcomed the attendees, explaining the importance of this center in the development and workforce development sector for the purposes of the replacement of the foreign employees and expats by national employees on one hand and to improve the performance of Libyan employees to increase productivity on the other hand, stressing NOC`s commitment to create a full technical staff and take over management of national oil production sites, urging workers to pay more effort and contribution to the success of the training programs.
On the other hand Dr. Ghanem announces the start of the study of the petroleum engineering within the program of 1000 opportunity, which is an ambitious program interested in preparing and qualifying graduates and is aimed at training A graduate of the Libyan universities of highly qualified technical specialist, such as petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, electrical and communication engineering, mechanical engineering, as well as engineering departments and other relevant the oil industry as well as some specialties assistance such as law and business administration, accounting and English, to prepare them to work in the oil fields and oil ports in the operation and maintenance and engineering projects and inspections, welding, safety and environmental protection and legal affairs and administrative.
In a statement to NOC`s website, Dr. Ghanem said:
Today we Open the center technical and administrative development, which aims to train Libyans in the different companies operating the oil sector looking, focusing our attention on training at home and training on the work itself, because we foun out from our previous experiments that the training abroad, and despite its importance, it is specific, so we will concentrate on expansion the training locally and will focus on English language training as an important tool to work in the oil industry and that language training should be done first and then comes the technical and administrative training.
He add, we care about the program of 1000 opportunity , which attracting a thousand graduates and we were able to employ most, if not all, of the graduates, we have another program which is a 100 opportunities to study abroad to prepare for Masters, which is an ambitious program that aims to create highly specialized technical staff.
