Bumi Armada Berhad announced the completion of its third FPSO (floating production, storage and offloading) vessel, named "Armada TGT 1". The Armada TGT 1 is planned to leave Keppel Shipyard for Vietnam, to work for Hoang Long Joint Operating Company (HLJOC) at the beginning of July, 2011. First Oil is scheduled for August 2011.

This conversion of a SuezMax tanker into 55,000 bbls per day (bopd) FPSO Armada TGT 1 was completed in 22 months on schedule. Mr Hassan Basma ED/CEO of Bumi Armada elaborated on the specifications, "This FPSO has been specifically designed to process difficult crude with a low wax appearance temperature and to withstand, sustain and remain moored under 100 year return environmental conditions including cyclones and tsunamis prevalent offshore Vietnam; this too in shallow waters of less than 43 metres. The completed topside is more than 12,000 tonnes and incorporates state-of-the-art technologies and a different layout to similar class FPSO resulting in a lighter topside and improved operability and safety considerations."

The Armada TGT 1 design complies with strict environmental regulations of zero flaring; gas will be re-injected or exported and water will be treated prior to discharging it into the sea. The FPSO is expected to arrive in the Te Giac Trang field, located offshore Vietnam 100km southeast of Vung Tau in early July, with first oil expected in August 2011.
