Minister of Oil, Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Mohammad Al-Busairi affirmed keenness of the authorities on using heavy-duty materials in the oil sector projects, namely the quality of pipes. Al-Busairi, in a statement addressed on his behalf by Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, the Managing Director of the Government, Parliamentary Relations, Public Relations of the Kuwaiti Petroleum Corporation (KPC), at the Kuwait Pipeline Technology Conference and Exhibition, affirmed the state policy of using top-quality products and materials, warning that he would not tolerate any negligence in this regard.
The oil sector is a very vital and sensitive field for it constitutes a main pillar of the national economy, he said, stressing the keenness on shouldering the responsibility of ensuring safety at the oil facilities "out of our sense of the responsibilities toward the homeland and the society." Elaborating, the minister said this sector functions according to a long-term and explicit strategy that ensures optimum employment of the state natural resources, so that the next generations would benefit from this wealth, and that should be according to standards that primarily secure safety of the workers and the environment. "Therefore, we devote particular concern to the quality, safety and maintenance of the pipes," he added. Crude oil is extracted and transferred from under the ground through networks of pipes to nearby fields, where the crude is gathered at huge tanks. The conference, due to conclude, gathers a number of international experts in the industry of manufacturing pipes.
