August 20, 2005 witnessed the ground breaking ceremony for EPC project of Algerian 5Mt/a condensate refinery undertaken by CPECC, a subsidiary of CNPC. Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika presented at the ceremony with his governmental officials. Present were top management of the project owner, Algerian State Oil Company (SONATRACH), and CNPC Vice President Mr. Wang Yilin and CNPC delegation.
The 5Mt/a condensate refinery locates at Skikda Industrial Park in the west of Algeria, one of the important projects in the integrated planning and layout of Algerian petroleum industry. The project includes the construction of the factory with an annual processing capacity of 5 million tons condensate and the auxiliary oil products tank farm.
The ground breaking of this project symbolized the official launch of Skikda condensate project. According to the contract, the project should be completed by April 20, 2008. CPECC will dispatch experienced technical and management staff to perform this contract so as to ensure the engineering quality and duly completion, making it a landmark in oil gas cooperation between China and Algeria, and contributing to Algerian social and economic developments as expected.
