Speaking on the 32nd anniversary of establishment of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) in Ahwaz south of Iran, managing director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) said that currently 98 drilling rigs were engaged in drilling oil and gas wells across the country adding another 36 drilling rigs will join the fleet in next two years.
Appraising NIDC’s drilling, technical and engineering capabilities, Mr. Qalebani said regarding NIOC’s focus on offshore drilling, it is expected NIDC plays a bigger role in drilling wells in waters which demands more sophisticated skills.
He also emphasized on using new technologies and speeding up implementation of drilling projects to realize plans on schedule and lowering costs.
Regarding NIOC’s plans on maintaining current level of oil production on the one hand and raising it on the other hand, the official said: last year NIOC succeeded to increase oil production in comparison to a year earlier and intends to do the same this year.
‘By launching the South Pars gas field phases 9 and 10 and rising total gas production by 50 million cubic meters per day, total gas production will increase by 10 percent this winter amid a plan on raising gas production by 20 million cubic meters per day in coming years’, the official noted.
He continued that under our schedule, up to the end of the fifth five year development plan on 2015, the country’s oil and gas production should reach 5 million barrels and 1.470 billion cubic meters per day respectively which need 156 billion dollars investment.
Elsewhere in his remarks, NIOC’s managing director thanked Khozestan province’s general governor and its representatives at Parliament for their cooperation with NIOC, NISOC and NIDC in south of the country.
