Block Engineering, a leading developer of Quantum Cascade Laser and FTIR spectroscopy instruments, announced that Scott Riggi has joined the company as its new Vice President of Sales. Scott will lead all sales activities for Block's award-winning line of QCL products, including its new LaserBench (TM) benchtop QCL spectrometer for the laboratory.

Petros Kotidis, CEO of Block Engineering, commented, "I am very pleased to welcome Scott to Block during this exciting period of accelerated growth. Scott brings strong sales experience across multiple markets and demonstrated leadership in building sales organizations. His skills will be critical as Block introduces new products, opens new market opportunities and grows its commercial sales."

Scott added, "I am excited about the opportunity to oversee the commercial sales efforts at Block Engineering. Building upon decades of success with its FTIR spectrometers, Block Engineering is well-positioned with its QCL-based spectrometers to deliver unparalleled performance both in and out of the lab. The company's commitment to the customer and continually advancing leading-edge technology will provide solutions for researchers and manufacturers that will help expand their detection capabilities. This is an exciting time for our business."

Scott comes to Block Engineering after having served as Director of Sales for the Americas at Princeton Instruments, a Roper Industries Company, where he was instrumental in growing the US research sales for a complete line of optical imaging scientific equipment including spectrometers, optics and CCD-based detectors. Prior to Princeton Instruments, Scott served as Director of Sales at Thermo Fisher's Scientific Air Quality Instruments Group, where he managed a hybrid sales model focused in the industrial power generation and petrochemical vertical space. Scott held similar roles with the Danaher Company and Cookson Electronics, and has over 20 plus years in a sales management capacity. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering, from Wentworth Institute of Technology and worked as an RF semiconductor design engineer for ten years.
