Alexander Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Director General of Gazprom Export and Francois Darchis, Senior Vice-President and Member of the Air Liquide Executive Committee signed in Moscow a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that stipulates potential cooperation in developing Gazprom’s abundant helium resources in Eastern Siberia.
According to the MOU, Gazprom Export and Air Liquide intend to study such forms of strategic cooperation as joint production, transportation, storage and marketing of helium within the project.
“The new helium project in Eastern Siberia provides for promising and innovative solutions for helium production, logistics and marketing. We hope our partnership with Air Liquide will allow to effectively use the huge helium reserves in this region of Russia,” said Alexander Medvedev.
“In order to provide better services to its customers in the helium business worldwide, Air Liquide will bring its technological potential, expertise and talent pool to this newly established partnership with Gazprom as it always happens with strategic partners,” said Francois Darchis.
On October 30 Gazprom adopted the final investment decision on the initial development stage of the Chayandinskoye field – the cornerstone of the Yakutia gas production center. Gazprom is determined to build the Power of Siberia gas trunkline system for gas transmission from the Chayandinskoye field, and later from the Kovyktinskoye field , which in its turn will herald the beginning of large-scale gas processing in Eastern Russia. A new helium production facility in the vicinity of Blagoveshchensk is planned to be brought onstream in 2018.
Gazprom Export, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gazprom, specializes in exports of natural gas, oil, petroleum products, gas condensate , sulphur, liquid hydrocarbons , gas derivatives and petrochemical products. The company supplies blue fuel to more than 20 countries. Its major foreign customers include companies from Germany, Turkey, Italy, France and Poland.
The company sells gas in new markets, optimizes export flows, analyzes and forecasts natural gas market trends. Gazprom Export participates in the development and implementation of Gazprom’s gas and energy investment projects in Russia and abroad.
